Catch up with all the latest successes at Club, District, Regional and National competitions............. Halkirk lad’s rain supreme A team from Halkirk Young Farmers won the inaugural Caithness Young Farmers Rugby sevens elimination. It was the first time a district elimination had taken place, which was at a rain lashed Millbank. The lads faced opposition from a team from Bower YFC. However 3 tries from winger Gavin Swanson as well as braces from Mark MacDonald and Jak Cowan had Halkirk cruising with Captain Hamish Coghill putting the icing on the cake with a converted try. Cowan also converted one of his tries. The lads will now travel to Perthshire in April to represent Caithness at the National finals. Grateful thanks were extended to Ian Grant who stepped in at very short notice to referee the match. Mr Grant said afterwards he was very impressed by the quality on show. Captain Coghill said he was pleased that some of the moves from the training ground had come to fruition during the match.
